Councils call for Government to halt financial support for Greater Manchester Clean Air Zone

Councils in Greater Manchester have asked the government to pause the next phase of financial support for the area’s Clean Air Zone to allow for a “fundamental review”.

The scheme starts in May when the largest, most polluting vehicles like lorries are charged for entering.

While the initial rollout will go ahead as planned, there are now questions over whether future phases will take in taxis and vans, following a major backlash from the public.
