Covid Inquiry: Bereaved families take centre stage as official hearings begin

More than three years after Boris Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown, a period in which over 226,000 lives were lost to coronavirus, and millions more turned upside down, the official Covid-19 Inquiry got underway today.

Its task is, frankly, enormous: analysing every aspect of the UK’s preparation and response to the pandemic, and deciding what lessons must be learned for the future.

Today though, it was bereaved families who took centre stage.
