Covid patients in US hospitals top 100,000 – as daily death toll hits 3,000

A top American health official has warned of “the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation” – as the number of Covid infections and patients in hospital reached record highs.

There are now more than 100,000 people with Covid in US hospitals, while more than 3,000 daily deaths were reported, another all time high.

And there are fears that the figures could surge yet again in the wake of the Thanksgiving holiday.
