Cross-party Brexit committee in Brussels for talks

In Brussels and in Westminster the search for a solution to the Brexit impasse goes on. Today MPs from the cross-party Brexit committee met one of the EU’s most powerful officials – hoping to find out if Europe would make any legally binding assurances on the Northern Ireland backstop.

The backstop was also on the agenda in Whitehall, where Tory MPs from rival sides of the Brexit debate held more talks with the Government on possible alternative arrangements.
