Davis urges Brexit trade talks

Political Editor

Brexit Secretary David Davis has told MPs that the UK is reaching the limits of  “what we can achieve” without beginning talks about trade. And he urged EU leaders to give his counterpart Michel Barnier the green light to do so at this week’s EU summit. This followed Theresa May’s EU dinner last night, after which the Prime Minister said the two sides agreed on the need to accelerate the Brexit talks. One concrete sign of the impact of Brexit on the economy came with the latest inflation figures, showing prices are now rising at their fastest rate for more than five years.
