Reports that Liz Truss is planning a major shake-up that could see developers required to build fewer affordable homes, as well as the scrapping of environmental regulations and reduced protection for renters, have caused alarm in some quarters.
The government’s apparent aim is to get more houses built – affordable or not – in order to fuel economic growth.
But does that make any sense? We spoke to Rico Wojtulewicz, of the National Federation of Builders, and Anny Cullum from Acorn, an organisation that promotes the rights of renters.
