Defeat for far-right in Austria poll

So in Austria tonight – the tide of right-wing populism has ground to a halt – after the far-right leader Norbert Hofer conceded defeat in the country’s presidential elections.

The head of the anti-immigration, anti-establishment Freedom Party lost by a large margin to former Green leader Alexander Van der Bellen.
