Documentary pays tribute to late British photographer Tish Murtha

She shot in black and white, to better capture the lives of people living on the edge of destitution in north east England: now a new documentary pays tribute to the life and work of the late photographer Tish Murtha.

She grew up in extreme poverty in the heart of Tyneside, and her bold and vivid work is a study in social history, documenting the everyday experience of the people she knew best.

We met her daughter – Ella Murtha in Newcastle.
