Dozens killed in fire that ravaged Bangladesh shopping district

At least 67 people have been killed in a fire which raged through an historic shopping district in the Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

It took firefighters over 10 hours to bring the blaze in the Chawkbazar area under control – with many victims trapped inside buildings in narrow alleyways.

The city has a history of disasters – more than a hundred people were killed in a factory fire back in 2012 – six months later a thousand people died when a factory collapsed.
