Dozens of beavers killed in Scotland despite protected species status

Beavers were reintroduced into the wild in Scotland more than a decade ago and given protected status last year. Now, numbers are thriving – but not everyone is happy. Some landowners want the animals gone because they say they are causing damage. But 105,000 hectares of woodland – considered the perfect habitat – can’t be used to relocate them because the law doesn’t allow it.
