More than a million Americans lost their lives to Covid – while the response to the pandemic became yet another political fault line between America’s left and right.

Dr Deborah Birx – who was President Trump’s White House pandemic response co-ordinator – has now published a book about what went wrong.

We spoke to her and asked who she thought was to blame for the shocking number of people who died.
