Drunk Tanks to ease late night A&E pressures

‘The NHS doesn’t stand for the National Hangover Service’ – so said the head of NHS England Simon Stevens today as he warned that ‘drunk tanks’ might be needed to relieve pressure on A&E. Mr Stevens revealed that a staggering 70 per cent of attendances at A&E on Friday and Saturday night are due to alcohol consumption. Drunk Tanks could, he said, be safe spaces for those who overindulged.
