‘Early indications’ Russia’s air defences behind plane crash

Ayshah Tull: A US official has suggested there are “early indications” that the Azerbaijan Airlines plane which crashed yesterday was brought down by Russia’s air defence system, according to the news agency Reuters.

Moscow has warned against any “hypotheses” about the cause. A national day of mourning has been held in Azerbaijan, after 38 people were killed when the plane burst into flames as it tried to make an emergency landing.
