Ebola outbreak in DR Congo declared public health emergency

Health and Social Care Editor

The World Health Organisation has tonight declared that the spread of Ebola to the Democratic Republic of Congo is a “public health emergency of international concern”.

The announcement comes after the death of a man from Ebola in Goma, a major city in DRC.

While health workers on the ground fight to contain what is now the second largest outbreak of the disease, aid workers say it is at a critical juncture with fears that it could continue to spread.
