Ecuador declares ‘state of war’ against drug gangs

Soldiers have been out on the streets across Ecuador – after President Daniel Noboa declared a “state of war” against drug gangs.

More than 300 people have been arrested for alleged acts of terrorism, including 13 people accused of storming onto a television set during a live broadcast, taking staff hostage at gunpoint.
