Elizabeth Emblem awarded to those who died in line of duty

More than 30 former firefighters, police officers and public servants who died in the line of duty have become the first recipients of the Elizabeth Emblem.

The award – which is the civilian equivalent of the Elizabeth Cross – will go to their next of kin, in recognition of their service.

Among those honoured are murdered police constables Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone, following a campaign by their fathers.
