English National Opera unveils plans for Manchester after move

North of England Correspondent

The English National Opera has unveiled its first plans for Greater Manchester, including a UK premiere of a five-hour immersive production by Philip Glass.

Arts Council England had threatened to cut all its funding to ENO unless it moved out of London, but although it won’t have a permanent venue in the north for now, it will stage performances at a range of locations and create a new youth company for young people under-represented in the arts.
