Entire Boeing 737 Max aircraft fleet grounded

371 Boeing airliners are sitting idle on the tarmac tonight, after the aviation giant grounded its 737 MAX model.

It follows the decision by the US Federal Aviation Administration to temporarily ban the jet from US airspace – joining more than 50 countries which had already done the same. Sunday’s Ethiopian Airlines crash claimed 157 lives, including nine Britons.

The American regulator had initially refused to ban the 737 MAX, but changed its mind after “new evidence” was found at the crash site in Ethiopia.
