Eton’s decision to pay for three new free schools in England had ‘nothing to do with the government’, says Education Secretary

Labour have accused the Government of “toadying” up to private schools – after it was announced that one of the country’s most prestigious private schools would help pay for three new sixth form colleges.

Eton College will contribute around three million pounds – as part of plans to open 15 new free schools across England.

We spoke to Education Secretary Gillian Keegan and she insisted the scheme would help drive up standards in deprived areas.
