Europe divided over Christmas virus rules

All across Europe it’s a familiar picture – getting through winter and Christmas while navigating a gradual way out of lockdown yet again.

The relentlessly tough restrictions, and the consequent economic hardship, have sparked protests on the streets from Madrid to Berlin.

While the authorities in many countries, reeling from the soaring case numbers of the second wave, are divided over how to let families meet up over Christmas – if at all.
