‘Europe is now experiencing extreme weather seen in the global south for years,’ says Mayor of Sierra Leone’s capital

On Monday, the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is expected to publish a new report showing global temperatures rising more quickly than anticipated, with government’s needing to go further and faster to prevent rising sea levels and more extreme weather events.

Earlier we spoke to Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr – the mayor of Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown.

She has been widely praised for her  pioneering approach to climate change and will be putting forward her plan for action at the COP26 summit in Glasgow this autumn.
