European reaction to May’s Brexit withdrawal agreement defeat

There are no doubt some here who fear a hard, even chaotic, Brexit, with all the social and economic repercussions and potential bad blood. But there are also the optimists who wonder whether last night’s defeat might not lead to a deeper, closer relationship between Britain and the EU with parliament wresting the reins of power from Theresa May. But ask them how to get there and they scratch their heads.
