3mEU’s Ursula Von der Leyen visits migrant camp on Italian island of Lampedusa
The European Commission chief Ursula Von der Leyen has visited a migrant centre on the Italian island of Lampedusa, where last week 7,000 people arrived on a single day.
Italy’s prime minister Giorgia Meloni, who toured the island with her, said the sheer volume of migrants was putting the country under “unsustainable pressure”.
