‘Every year we have an NHS crisis’: Sir Keir Starmer lays out Labour’s NHS reform plan

Cutting waiting times, reducing heart disease and preventing suicides – these were just some of Sir Keir Starmer’s pledges – when he promised to make the NHS ‘fit for the future’.

Launching Labour’s health mission in Essex, the party leader was big on the need for fundamental change to keep the health service sustainable.

But he stopped short of promising the extra cash which most health leaders agree is needed to meet those targets.
