Exclusive: Rishi Sunak most popular choice for leader among poll of Tory members

The race is on to replace Boris Johnson, as Rishi Sunak declared his bid for the Tory leadership, complete with slick campaign video and a series of senior MPs declaring their support.

A poll of a sample of 493 Conservative Party members carried out for this programme puts Mr Sunak ahead of the field – by a narrow margin, but a majority of those who responded also said they’d rather Boris Johnson had stayed.
