Extreme weather warnings issued across UK with blizzards and high winds expected

Extreme weather warnings have been issued for large parts of the UK – with blizzards, high winds and up to 40cm of snow expected in the worst hit places.

The Met Office has warned of “treacherous conditions” and significant disruption to travel, power supplies and phone connections – with amber alerts in force across northern England, the Midlands, parts of Wales and Northern Ireland.
