Far-right populist Javier Milei takes shock lead in Argentina primary election

He’s said climate change is a lie, that he wants to abolish the central bank and ban sex education to preserve family values.

Yet Argentina’s far right presidential hopeful Javier Milei has become the unlikely presidential front runner – after polling far better than expected in yesterday’s primary elections.

He declared he would end what he called the “parasitic, corrupt and useless political caste” – a populist message aimed at voters frustrated with conventional politics.
