Fishing row: UK warns France of retaliation over threats

The French ambassador to the UK has been summoned to the Foreign Office as the row over fishing rights continues to escalate.

France has threatened to block British boats from landing fish at its ports if the licensing dispute is not resolved by Tuesday.

In response, the UK warned that the Royal Navy could board French and other EU fishing vessels when they are in British waters, as Boris Johnson said he would do “whatever is necessary to ensure UK interests”.
