Former Proud Boys leader to be sentenced for Capitol riot role

The former leader of the far right US militia group, the Proud Boys is about to be sentenced for his role in the 2021 Capitol riot. Enrique Tarrio was found guilty of seditious conspiracy for helping to plan the unrest.

The court heard how he was so furious at Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 elections he urged supporters on social media to show “no quarter…” adding, “raise the black flag”. Tarrio’s lawyer argued that he’d been made a scapegoat.
