Former Trump campaign staffer admits financial crimes 

Rick Gates, a high-ranking former member of Trump’s campaign team, has admitted in federal court that he committed financial crimes with his former boss, Paul Manafort.

He is the star witness in the case against Mr Manafort, in the first trial to come out of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Gates is testifying as part of a plea deal with the Special Counsel.
