France announce ban on sales of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040

President Emmanuel Macron’s government said poorer families would receive subsidies to help them switch to electric vehicles. The move follows Volvo’s announcement yesterday that all its new models will be electric or hybrid after 2019.
