France election: Le Pen and Macron spar ahead of run-off

Thousands of people have taken to the streets in rival May Day rallies across France – days before the presidential elections. Scuffles broke out as some protestors hurled petrol bombs at police, who fired tear gas in response. The two candidates – centrist Emmanuel Macron and the far right’s Marine Le Pen – took aim at each others’ visions of France.
