Gary Lineker to return to Match of the Day

Gary Lineker says he is delighted to be back at Match of the Day – thanking supporters for their “remarkable show of solidarity”.

The BBC apologised over its handling of the row – and said it would now be carrying out an independent review into its social media guidelines – while the chairman Richard Sharp has faced more calls to resign.
