Gaza reports first polio case in 25 years as aid agencies call for pause in fighting

Aid agencies are calling for an urgent pause in the fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, with Palestinians now facing an outbreak of polio to compound their misery.

While the US is optimistic that a truce is within reach, airstrikes have killed at least 18 people in the enclave according to the Associated Press on the ground  –  all of them from the same family.

And earlier today ten people were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon prompting retaliatory fire from Hezbollah.
