Georgia’s pro-Russia president sworn in as political crisis continues

Georgia has a new president after former Manchester City striker Mikhail Kavelashvili was sworn into office.

But the right-wing, pro-Russian is taking over after a disputed election boycotted by rival candidates which sparked weeks of pro-EU protests followed by hundreds of arrests.

And the outgoing pro-Western president declared herself the “only legitimate” holder of the office.
