‘German government need to do a lot more to protect climate’, says professor

Germany’s Constitutional Court has ruled that the country’s politicians must act more quickly to reduce emissions.

The court said shifting the burden of reductions to future generations is unconstitutional.

It is a significant step just a few months before the country elects Angela Merkel’s successor.

We spoke to Prof Claudia Kemfert, who leads the department of energy, transportation and environment at the German Institute of Economic Research.
