‘Ghost children’: Thousands largely absent from school over pandemic, report says

Tens of thousands of children are likely to have been largely absent from school in England since the start of the pandemic, according to a new report.

The Centre for Social Justice think tank says children in disadvantaged areas or those with special educational needs are disproportionately affected.

And it’s calling for more support from the government, to help tackle absence rates.
