Government backs Net Zero pledges despite reports of possible changes

Rishi Sunak is reported to be considering watering down some of the commitments made to reach net zero by 2050.

The government is insisting, though, that it is not abandoning the legal commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The changes are expected to be made in a speech by the Prime Minister in the coming days.
