Government gives extra money to devolved nations

Not all of the spending decisions made today by the UK Government apply to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland because areas like education and health are devolved.

Extra money will instead be passed to the devolved administrations using the Barnett formula – a mechanism used by the Treasury to allocate expenditure.
