Government plans to cut childcare costs criticised as providers say sector is in crisis

The Government says it will cut the cost of childcare for families facing a squeeze on their incomes, with plans to lower the ratio of staff to children in England’s nurseries.

The proposals have gone out to consultation, but critics say after all the disruption caused by the pandemic restrictions, now is not the time to start reducing the support offered to young children.
