Government to appeal against Jamaica deportations ruling

The cases of eight people due to be deported on a flight to Jamaica are now being reviewed by the Home Office after new legal representations were made.

Ministers and officials have insisted all those who were due to be deported had committed serious criminal offences, including manslaughter and rape. But human rights campaigners – backed by around 150 MPs- said they had all lived in this country since they were children and were “British in every meaningful way”.
