It’s not the first time the DWP has been criticised for embroidering the truth.

They were supposed to extoll the virtues of Universal Credit by busting myths and presenting the real facts.

But the advertising watchdog has now banned a series of ads by the Department of Work and Pensions – after finding that their claims about the benefit were unsubstantiated and misleading.
