Governments pledge billions of dollars in aid for Syria

As if it couldn’t get any worse for the people of Syria, they now have Covid-19 and an economic collapse to add to the woes created by nine years of civil war.

Now, international donors have pledged $7.7 billion at a virtual fundraising conference to support its troubled economy, which has seen food prices jump by 200%.
