Greater Manchester takes back control of buses after 40 years

People living in deprived areas of England have suffered disproportionately larger cuts to bus services, according to a new report.

A Bus Services Bill is currently passing through Parliament, which aims to improve bus provision and give all local transport authorities new powers to run their own services.

Greater Manchester has just become the first area of England outside London to bring its bus services back under local control.
