Greece battles wildfires as at least 15 people killed in Algeria fires

We find ourselves at war with fire, the Greek prime minister declared today – as the hottest summer on record turns his country’s hillsides into a tinderbox.

Tens of thousands of tourists have been evacuated from Rhodes and other islands while fires have also broken out elsewhere in the Med with at least 15 people killed in Algeria.

But beyond the immediate emergency response – is there any kind of plan to arrest this climate breakdown?
