The Prime Minister said Parliament was meeting as normal to deliver a clear message: its “resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism”.
But Westminster’s deserted streets and flags at half-mast were reminders of the tragic results of yesterday’s attack. MPs stood for a minute’s silence in memory of the victims. They paid tribute to the staff and police who had protected them.
One MP – who had served in the army with PC Keith Palmer – called for him to be honoured with a posthumous award for bravery.
