Harrison Ford hospitalised after plane crash

US actor Harrison Ford suffers serious but non life-threatening injuries when he crash-landed his World War II-era airplane on a golf course in Los Angeles on Thursday, after losing engine power.

Hollywood legend Harrison Ford is “battered, but ok” after the plane he was piloting crash-landed on a golf course, his son has said.

The 72-year-old actor, who starred in blockbusters including the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies, was the only occupant of the single-engine plane when it came down on the green on Penmar Golf Course in the Venice area of Los Angeles at 2.30pm (10.30pm GMT).

A National Transportation Safety Board spokesman said the pilot of the plane reported losing engine power immediately before the crash but that the agency would conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Assistant Los Angeles fire chief Patrick Butler said injuries sustained are not life-threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery

The actor’s son Ben said on Twitter:

His Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original series, wished him well:

In 1999, Ford and a flight instructor went down in a helicopter crash north of Los Angeles, and the helicopter also was registered to MG Aviation, according to a Los Angeles Times report at the time.
