Home Secretary criticised for wife drink spiking joke

The Home Secretary James Cleverly has apologised after he joked at a reception in Downing Street about spiking his wife’s drink with a date rape drug.

His comments came just hours after the Home Office announced plans to strengthen the legislation around spiking.
