Homes and businesses flooded as torrential rain hits Yorkshire Dales

Extreme weather, scientists warn, is a consequence of climate change.

Today more torrential rain has triggered fresh flooding in parts of the country, after storms in the Yorkshire Dales left homes and businesses flooded, cut off roads, and washed bridges clean away.

Mountain rescue teams said some homes were inundated by more than a metre of water, while sheds and cars were sent floating down flooded roads.
