'Triads' behind spike in Hong Kong protest violence, gang leader claims

A senior member of a one of Hong Kong’s notorious gangs tells Channel 4 News triad members receive money to disrupt the protest movement and the police do not try to stop them.

A triad gang-leader tells me that the Hong Kong student protestors were infiltrated by agent provocateurs.

The leaders of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement also criticised the violent actions of those who attempted to break into the legislative assembly yesterday. It was the first time protesters have damaged public property.

I spoke to a senior member of a triad gang who claims they were paid to do it.
